Thank you for your question.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

1. You drew up a will and made it notarized at Koshou Yakuba (Japanese Notary Public), which is fully effective as to your assets located in Japan.

2. You are not currently living in the US, but the Bank of America account is still in effect.

3. You duly included your Bank of America account in your will.

If the above statements are right, your assets in Bank of America shall be bequested to the intended person. However, in order for the intended person to receive (withdraw) money from Bank of America account, once you pass away, it will take time and has to go through additional steps. It is far better if you close this account while you are alive and send money to you.

If you have further question, please feel free to contact me.

You can also write me in Japanese, if you are comfortable doing so.

Best regards,
